Enter the Rodeo

The recording of our third album has already begun, and so far the results have been positive.  Drums and bass are finished, so now it’s just guitars, vocals, and more guitars.  We’re also getting some help from our non-MB&B musician friends, as we hope to incorporate some piano, organ, accordian, and horns on our next record.  Assuming all continues to go well, we’re looking at a full-length record with 13 brand new Mud, Blood & Beer tracks.  We’re confident that this is going to be our best record yet, and we hope to have it our before year-end.

In other news, we’re coming back to NYC’s famed Rodeo Bar in a few weeks.  We’re playing Tuesday, July 3, so with everyone having the next day off we’re expecting it to be a serious all-night party.  We go on at 8:30 and we play to midnight.  Admission is FREE.  We’re going to round out our set with a handful of cover songs, so it should be a fun show, unless you’re some sissy who doesn’t love eating BBQ while having his face simultaneously melted with the full force of Mud, Blood & Beer-style rock & roll.

And finally, we’re sad to see the Lakeside Lounge come to an end and close its doors last month.  We played our very first gig there five years ago, and we played there as recently as a few weeks ago.  It was always a fun place to play, as it had a low-key vibe and they always treated bands with respect.  With NYC constantly changing, it’s getting harder and harder to find cool places like that are supportive of original live music.  The Lakeside was always cool, and it was always fun. Thanks for the memories, and so many great years of drinking, fun, and rock & roll.

And one last note, our awesome MB&B t-shirts are almost sold out, so order now if you want one.  And if you do order now, we’ll throw in a free copy of our latest CD, Gone for Good.  Check out our swag page for details.

Coming Down

Lots of news to bring you straight from MudBloodBeer headquarters.  But first things first: NYC’s best alt-country/9to5OfficeJobCore band is bringing the music to you, the people, this Saturday night, March 31, at the Lakeside Lounge.  Show starts at 10:00 p.m. and admission is free.  More important, the band drinks for free, so get there early before the whole thing comes crashing down on you in a fit of reckless self destruction.

MB&B
Live at the Lakeside Lounge (Avenue B and 10th)
Saturday, March 31
10 p.m.
FREE ADMISSION of guilt

Next, we have a new music video montage for our song “Coming Down.”  Don’t be fooled by the pictures of the band members in said video–we’re actually much more handsome in person.  Anyway, yes, the new video is pretty darned cool if I say so myself, and something we hope to be doing a lot more of in the not-too-distant future.  And huge thanks to my wife for putting it together for us.  Dig it:

In other news, we are gearing up to record our third album, so we are hitting the proverbial woodshed right now.  Good things are coming, and hopefully it will be ready later this year.

Stay tuned for more news and updates.  And in the mean time, we hope to see you Saturday.

Mine the Light

We made a simple music video for the song “Mine the Light” off our upcoming album Gone for Good, which will be available in just a few weeks.  We’re really excited about the new album, but in the meantime we hope you enjoy this quiet song.  Stay tuned for details on how to get a copy of our new album and for the upcoming CD release party.

New Day Rising

These are exciting times for Mud, Blood & Beer.  First off, we finally have a new guitarist in the fold by the name of Jon Glover.  We didn’t think that our band could possibly melt people’s faces even more, but we were wrong.  Mr. Glover is a bad motherf*cker on the guitar, and he brings with him a bunch of really great songs too.  So let’s have a big MB&B-style welcome for Jon.

In other news, our long-delayed follow-up CD has been recorded and is currently being mixed by our good friend Greg Thompson, who won a Grammy for his engineering work with They Might Be Giants.  We’re really excited about the new songs, and we were fortunate enough for Jon to be able to contribute some excellent lead guitar work.

Last but not least, we return to the stage with our new lineup on Thursday, October 6, at the Lakeside Lounge, so save the date.  We played our first gig at the Lakeside many years ago, so it will be great to make our long-awaited return there as well.  Stay tuned for more MB&B news and updates.

All the best,
Stephen, Jess, Sperber, and Jon

Back in the Saddle

Mud, Blood & Beer returns to the scene of the crime
Wednesday, April 20, for a second show at NYC’s Barr 44 at the Royalton Hotel.  Show starts at 7:00 p.m. and, with us playing two long sets of MB&B originals and a few select covers that we will probably take credit for anyway.  Admission is free, so you get what you pay for, folks.

It should be a fun night–our first show as a three-piece.  Our last Bar 44 show was a lot of fun, and this one promises to be the same.  So come down and listen to both kinds of music, country and western.

Bar 44 is located in the Royalton Hotel at 44 West 44th Street in Manhattan.  See you there.

Big Show Saturday Night at the Georgeotown Saloon

We’re playing only our second Connecticut show this weekend and our first at the Georgetown Saloon in Redding, Connecticut.  We’ll be performing three sets of mostly original Mud, Blood & Beer music, as well as a handful of some other songs that we didn’t write but will take credit for anyway.  We’re hoping to make a big splash at the Georgetown Saloon (www.georgetownsaloon.com) because it’s a great venue, it’s right around the block from my house, and most important, they will let us drink for free all night.  So we’re counting on you, Mud, Blood & Beer fans of the world, to come down and show your support for your favorite original alt-country/Americana band.  Show starts at 9:00 p.m. sharp.  We will be giving away copies of our first CD, and we will also have cool new t-shirts available.  We’re looking forward to a great show, and we hope to see you there.

Welcome to Mud, Blood & Beer!

Hey there!  Thanks for checking out our brand new Web site, www.mudbloodbeermusic.com. This place is probably long overdue for any self-respecting alt-country/Americana band, but better late than never I suppose.  Feel free to check out the site, as there are places for photos, free music downloads, news and info about the band, a list of our upcoming shows, a place to buy our CDs and our brand new, super-awesome Mud, Blood & Beer t-shirts.

The past year has been a great time for us here at Mud, Blood & Beer headquarters.  We played some great shows all over New York City, our debut album sold well here in the U.S. and in Europe (I’m looking at you, Holland), we got some incredible press out in the blogosphere, and our wives continued to put up with us in our tireless pursuit of making music for another year.

We’re optimistic that 2011 will be even better.  We recently began recording our follow-up CD, which we hope to have available early next year.  We’re all really excited about the new record, as we believe it is going to be even better than our first.  There are also plans to hit the road in support of our new album, so we can bring the rock to you, the people.  And have I mentioned the new t-shirts?  Sweet.  So please come back and check out the site often, as there will be frequent news updates on the band, occasional free downloads, and maybe even a video too.

Before we sign off, we just want to thank all of our family, friends, and fans who have supported us these past few years in helping us keep Mud, Blood & Beer going strong.  You guys rock.  Hope to see you at a gig in 2011.

Sincerely,

Stephen, Jason, Sperber, and Jess
